The Lagos State Government provided at 800 rice farmers with hands-on experience in modern and improved rice farming practices to ensure maximum output, improved yield, and higher profitability.
The training was necessary to meet the rice deficit in the state and the Nigerian government’s current ban on importation of rice.
The capacity building and training for rice farmers was also geared towards ensuring the sustainable supply of paddy in time for the completion of the state-owned Imota Rice Mill project which requires about 280,000 ton of paddy annually.
