The Philippine Department of Agriculture turned over farm machinery and equipment worth over USD 1.6 million to different rice-based farmers’ and irrigators’ association in the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur (collectively the CARAGA Administrative Region).
The program part of the Rice Competitive Enhancement Fund Mechanization Component of the government that aims to raise rice farmers’ profitability and competitiveness through the use of mechanization technologies.
Thousands of farmers in the region are expected to benefit from the program.
