Bolstering the National Agricultural Research and Extension Systems’ (NARES) breeding programs of the developing countries and their alignment with the CGIAR global breeding programs is essential to deliver increased genetic gains. However, integrating these new technologies into NARES breeding programs across all regions is challenging and time-consuming.
This October, CGIAR’s Excellence in Breeding, Accelerated Breeding and Breeding Resource Initiatives, IRRI, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, and the Government of Chhattisgarh, India organized Partnership-Driven Research for Food Secure Future, a series of capacity-building events on breeding program modernization in Asia and Sub-Saharan African countries.
