Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen called on the country’s rice farmers to use using organic techniques to meet the growing global demand for chemical-free products. He also stressed that over-reliance on chemical fertilizers and pesticides could lead to food safety concerns.
Song Saran, CEO of Amru Rice, supported the call for organic rice. Public-private-producer partnerships can have a significant effect on controlling the use of agricultural chemicals by ensuring farmers have guaranteed markets for organically grown food products, Mr. Saran said.
