China hopes to ensure sufficient food supply for its 1.4 billion citizens through the use of gene editing for improving crops.
The Chinese Government wants to strategically invest in gene editing and help make the country the global leader in CRISPR technology.
Using CRISPR, researchers are working to develop crop “super varieties” that will give the highest yield with the least fertilizers and pesticides, pest and disease resistant, and drought and salt tolerant.
