Over 2 million tons of rice straw have been collected turned into fertilizer, according to Egypt’s Agricultural Guidance Sector at the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.
The ministry established 731 collection sites for rice straw in six governorates and conducted 1,827 seminars to raise awareness on the dangers of burning rice straw and other agricultural waste among farmers.
A new project for the production of fiberboard using rice straw was also launched in the country.
