The town of Fukishima’ agricultural commission in Japan held farming trials this month for various crops, including the popular Koshihikari rice, as the community continues to recover from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power disaster in 2011.
The cultivation for rice started last year as part of crop trials to determine the viability of the town’s farming’s sector. All test crops were found to be fit for consumption. The local government will continue to hold farming trials until 2020 and also plans to create a manual for reestablishing agricultural activities.
