Reverse migration of laborers from urban areas to rural areas due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown is expected to boost India’s agriculture sector.
Combined with this year’s good monsoon, the availability of returning workers has already resulted in higher cropping of agricultural lands as national kharif crop sowing rose 21% higher than the previous year.
Experts predict that bumper crop harvests could help spur the Indian economy.
