The national agricultural research and extension systems and the IRRI breeding network organized an annual joint meeting to strengthen the rice sector in East and Southern Africa.
The meeting brought together experts, researchers, and stakeholders from the rice breeding and seed systems community to discuss and collaborate on advancing rice breeding programs and improving seed systems in the region.
IRRI scientists discussed modernization of breeding programs, trait deployment to manage biotic and abiotic stresses, rice pathology, seed systems, and regional strategies to address emerging challenges in the rice sector in the region.
