At least 1 million farmers from 42 provinces benefited from the Rice Competitive Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Seed Program of the Philippine government.
More than 10 million certified seeds were distributed to the farmers since the implementation of RCEF Seed Program three years ago, according to the Philippine Rice Research Institute.
Rice areas planted with RCEF seeds reach 1.5 million hectares annually.

A training program was organized by IRRI and the Bangladesh and the Seed Certification Agency for private seed companies to help the sector understand the certification process and boost the domestic supply of quality rice seed. Twenty-five participants from Aftab Bahumukhi Farms Ltd., Ispahani Agro Ltd., Metal Agro Ltd., Lal Teer Seed Company Ltd., and Supreme Seed Company Ltd. attended the training program on 18 to 19 July 2022 at the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute.
Training women groups to build a self-reliant quality seed system in Eastern India
Quality seed is the foundation for productivity and a bearer of new technologies which can lead to the well-being of rural families dependent on farming. The practice of seed saving has been a cornerstone of Indian farming traditions that made agriculture a way of life, especially in rural villages. However, in Eastern India, limited or no access to quality seed created a weak informal seed channel (exchange of farm-saved seeds with other farmers) which often results in low yields after successive cultivation. Thus, the practice of quality seeds production and storage and the awareness of improved varieties are the need of the hour on the ground level.
