The government of the Indian State of Punjab will subsidize the purchases of machinery for rice and corn cultivation during the kharif season by up to 50%.
The program will cover equipment for direct seeding of rice, nursery sowing machines, paddy transplanting machines and maize sowing, threshing and drying.
The subsidy is expected to help conserve groundwater and help farmers cope with the labor shortage amid the COVID-19 restrictions.
