The Thai Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH announced the launch of a joint public-private project promoting low-carbon rice farming in the central plains of Thailand to increase productivity while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Under the Thai Rice Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions project, around 100,000 local rice farming households covering almost 500,000 hectares of rice fields in six provinces would shift to a sustainable method of rice-growing.
