Korea’s Rural Development Administration (RDA) and the United Arab Emirates’ agricultural research institute have developed smart farming technology that enables rice to grow under desert conditions.
The experiment used Asemi, a japonica rice variety developed by the RDA, furrow cultivation, and drip irrigation using underground water.
Following the success of growing Asemi rice in the desert, the project will conduct trials to determine the potential of double-cropping.
